Before We Arrive
You choose a time that suits you, same day or next day depending on your schedule. We confirm the address, where the car is parked and anything that might affect access, like a gate code or parkade height.
When Our Truck Gets There
Our driver walks around the car and checks it against the photos and details you sent. If everything matches, the offer stays exactly as agreed.
Signing the Paperwork
You show photo ID and the signed registration, and we complete the transfer form together. It takes a few minutes.
Getting Paid
We pay you by cash or e-Transfer, right there, before the car is loaded. Then we winch it onto the truck and drive away.
After We Leave

Paperwork for Scrapping a Car in BC
The paperwork is simpler than most people think. In British Columbia, the main forms come from ICBC.
Vehicle Registration (APV250)
This is the registration portion of the papers you received when the car was registered. The registered owner signs it and hands it over at the sale.
Transfer/Tax Form (APV9T)
This form records the change of ownership. It needs original signatures on all four pages. We complete it with you at pickup.
Licence Plates
Plates belong to ICBC and stay with you, not the car. Remove them before the car leaves. If you are not moving them to another vehicle, return them to an Autoplan broker.
Autoplan Policy
Once the car is sold, cancel your Autoplan policy or move it to your next vehicle so you stop paying for a car you no longer own.
Special Situations

Richmond’s Rules on Derelict Vehicles
Many of our calls come after a neighbour complains or a strata council sends a letter. The City of Richmond’s Unsightly Premises Regulation Bylaw treats a car that does not run, or that is not licensed with a valid Autoplan policy, as a derelict vehicle, and only one is allowed on a property.

Do I have to be home for the pickup?
Someone who can sign the transfer form and show photo ID needs to be there, because the paperwork is completed when the car changes hands. Payment also happens on the spot, by cash or e-Transfer, before we leave. If you cannot be there, call us at 236 240 2138 before booking and we will talk through the options so the pickup still goes smoothly.
Can you take a car with no keys?
Yes. Lost keys do not stop a scrap car removal. Our truck uses a winch and wheel dollies to load cars that cannot be started or steered. Let us know when you book that the keys are missing, and have the registration ready, since it is how we confirm you own the car.
Can I scrap a car that is not in my name?
No. The car must be registered in your name, with clear ownership and no loan on it. The one exception is an estate: if the owner has passed away, the executor can sell the car once they show legal authority to sell it. Call Brighouse Commercial before booking and we will confirm what to bring.
Will the price change when your driver arrives?
Not if the car matches what you described. Our driver checks the car against your photos and details. The offer only changes if a major part is missing that was not mentioned, the vehicle is different, or the paperwork is not available. If anything changes, we explain it before you sign, and you are free to say no.
Do you charge for towing?
Towing is free on most scrap car pickups in Richmond. If a car is in an unusual spot, such as deep in a field or a parkade with very low clearance, we tell you before booking if anything is different. You always know the terms before you agree to a pickup time.
How long does the pickup take?
Most pickups are quick once our truck arrives. The visit covers checking the car, signing the transfer form, paying you and loading it. Cars in tight parkades or with locked wheels can take a little longer, and we plan for that when you book so your day is not held up.
